The teachers attending TED Aliağa staff in the academic year of 2011-2012 took part in “Orientation Seminars of Turkish Educational Association” which was arranged in Ankara on August 23-24, 2011. The seminars were accomplished with the participation of 239 teachers from TED Schools, 205 of whom are newcomers. Our teachers acquired trainings regarding “Empathic Communication” by Prof. Dr. Üstün Dökmen, “Celebral Systematicity of Learning” by Prof. Dr. Kaya Özkuş, “Effective Communication” by Adnan Erbaş, “Which part of the brain does creativity belong to?” and “Can a child be creative via education?” by Dr. Bülent Madi. English Teachers got training concerning “Classroom Management”, “Active Learning” and “Lesson Planning” from Kristina Smith, “Testing, Assessment & Evaluation” from Aslı Gilanlıoğlu, “Teaching Teenagers” by Özlem Aydın and “How to Deal with Multi-level Students” from Katherine Panton, “Blogging” from Deniz Akkor. As for pre-school English Teachers, they were trained by Berna Özgün, Begüm Gürkan, Seden Karadeniz and Özge Günel about “Learning English at a very Young Age“ and “How to Use TEDdy’s Ready”. Finally, teachers of German attended the seminar provided by Alev Yazıcı regarding how to improve German language skills.
